Metaverse technology company Improbable has sold its gaming unit, The Multiplayer Group (MPG), to video game developer Keywords Studios for $97 million. MPG is renowned for its work on titles like Fallout 76 and Medal of Honor: Beyond and Beyond.

In collaboration with its subsidiary Zynga, acquired for $12.7 billion last year, Take-Two is launching “Sugartown,” a web3 game built on Ethereum, marking the debut of a “major mobile game developer” crafting a crypto-based game “from the ground up.” Players will utilize Ethereum (or ERC-721) tokens to access the game, stake for energy, and earn in-game currency. Access tokens named Oras will also be minted this year as part of an initial release.

Kaiko Research’s data highlights reduced engagement in prominent tokens: “AXS, the governance token of the Axie Infinity ecosystem is down more than 90% since early 2022 and SAND, MANA and GALA tokens have seen a a similar drop in value.” Analysts point out that monetary incentives were a primary motivator for users, but these platforms faced challenges in maintaining their user base due to diminishing in-game rewards.

London's Herodotus, in collaboration with StarkWare, has launched an "on-chain accumulator" tool that lets users read and verify any part of Ethereum's history. This tackles Ethereum's current limitation of validating only the last 256 blockhashes. The tool uses "storage proofs," a cryptographic method, to confirm the validity of data. This could be a game-changer for creating permissionless account recovery systems and insurance protocols that rely on historical on-chain data.

Social media giants, like Facebook, rely on a vast global moderation teams to sift out damaging content, from child pornography materials to severe violence. The implementation of GPT-4 might be the key to revolutionizing this workflow. "The process [of content moderation] is inherently slow and can lead to mental stress on human moderators. With this system, the process of developing and customizing content policies is trimmed down from months to hours," assert OpenAI representatives. Access to the OpenAI API now enables individuals to forge their distinct AI-driven moderation frameworks.
