📣 LockBit Ransomware Website Shut Down

Law enforcement agencies have restricted access to the website of the notorious LockBit ransomware, which became the leading type of attack among similar cyber threats in 2022.
The crackdown involved multiple international law enforcement bodies, including the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA), the FBI, and Europol, following warnings about the risks posed by LockBit's operations.
Hackers primarily exploited the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) for their attacks, alongside employing phishing tactics and brute-force techniques.
Upon gaining access to a victim's device, the ransomware was initiated through command-line arguments, the task scheduler, or PowerShell scripts.
Notable targets of LockBit include the UK's Royal Mail, the digital infrastructure of Japan's Nagoya port, and the Boeing corporation.
Between 2020 and 2023, the program netted criminals about $91 million in ransom payments. In 2022, LockBit was responsible for 44% of all documented ransomware attack cases.
The activities of LockBit have led to the charging and arrest of several russian citizens.
Though website blockades and arrests won't completely eliminate cybercrime, such measures could significantly deter future criminal activities.
