AI will bring about revolutionary change, according to Tony Blair, former UK Labor PM.
Tony Blair, the Labor PM in charge of the UK government between 1997 and 2007, believes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a mammoth role in the world’s future.

At a Chatham House event in London, Blair, co-author of a report with Conservative politician William Hague, said: “How you understand, master, and harness this technology revolution will define the place of this country and the shape of the world.”

He called on the politicians to avoid being caught by the rapidly advancing technology, “The nature of the dialogue between government and not just the people in the sector but outside has got to be so much richer and [deeper].”

He also recommended that center-left politicians view AI as their mission. Because “this is going to change everything." Blair added that some  new AI regulatory agency was needed, “subject to getting really good people to run it."

In his opinion, the future of politics is no longer about promises regarding tax policy or spending. He believes that it will be preoccupied with managing AI instead.

Following the publication of Blair and Hague’s report, Britain's AI Council was disbanded. It is, however, unknown whether there’s a connection between the two events.

Blair’s speech comes shortly after incumbent UK PM Rishi Sunak said he wants to bring together like-minded AI states.
