According to a new report report  by data analytics platform Flipside, in 2023 Ethereum and Polygon were the leading chains in terms of monthly acquired users. Each of the chains gained over 15 M with Ethereum coming the first by a little difference.

Bitcoin was the third with 10,6 million acquired users. The list continued with Solana (5,6 M), Arbitrum (7,3 M), Optimism (3,3 M), Avalanche (2,5 M), and Base (1,9 M).

Bullish and bearish sentiments fluctuated through last year. User acquisition peaked in May when nearly 6 M users initiated their second on-chain transaction.

Many active addresses used L2 chains. 6,7 M wallets interacted with Polygon and other EMV-compatible Layer 2s, while 5,1 M were active between Ethereum and at least one other EVM chain.

Flipside predicts that cross-chain interactions will increase as users become more familiar with different solutions. The competition among Layer2 chains will increase, and new chains will appear at a quicker pace to meet users’ requirements.
