OpenAI CEO Sam Altman envisions the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a pivotal location for trialing artificial intelligence and other innovative technologies. He expressed this viewpoint during a virtual meeting with the UAE’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence.
And if there was a contained way that I could give people the future and let them experiment with it and then see what makes sense, what went wrong, what went right, that seems like an interesting experiment,
Altman elaborated.
He is also convinced about establishing a unified AI regulatory framework to ensure activities remain within set limits. In this context, he identifies the UAE as a potential frontrunner, ready to spearhead extensive discussions and tackle significant issues.

Earlier, Altman had reached out to investors and the UAE government to raise up to $7 trillion for AI chip factories, which would later be managed by chipmakers over the long term. Yet, he has not been able to attract enough investors to fulfill this ambitious plan.
