AI NFTs: 7 Best Neural Networks for Image Generation

Most NFTs are crafted as 2D images, which can either be hand-drawn or generated using neural networks.
The AI boom in 2023 has given rise to an array of tools that generate audio, video, and visual content. Here, we'll explore seven distinct services that craft images based on text prompts. Such images are ideal for creating individual NFTs or curating an entire NFT collection tailored to user specifications.

Dream.ai

Dream.ai is a user-friendly platform designed for image generation. Its free version allows the creation of only one image, so those looking to generate multiple images might need to save each image individually or opt for a paid subscription.

Users can choose a specific style for the upcoming artwork or import from an existing image. Notably, we used Dream.ai to craft an NFT collection featured in our latest article.

Midjourney

Midjourney stands out as one of the leading services for generating images based on text prompts. To start, users are required to join the project's official Discord community, which boasts over 14 million members.

Given the surge in user interest, Midjourney currently doesn't offer a free version, at least as of the time this article was written. The cost for the basic subscription, which provides access to the neural network features, is priced at $8 per month.

DALL-E

Developed by OpenAI, the brains behind Chat GPT, DALL-E received a significant update last year. As a result, the images produced are more lifelike, with a resolution reaching up to 1024x1024 pixels.

Additionally, DALL-E offers tools to edit existing images, allowing users to add or remove elements, apply various filters, manage specific regions, and refine shadows. While the platform can generate up to four related images simultaneously, curating a collection requires individual attention to each piece.

However, DALL-E isn't free. For every set of 115 generated images, users are charged $15.

Bing Image Creator

A brainchild of Microsoft, Bing Image Creator was integrated into Bing's chat feature in March 2023. To use the service, users must sign into their Google account.

By April, the neural network tool was included in the standard menu of the Edge browser, offering users 100 free image generations during its beta phase.

Stable Diffusion

Developed by Stability AI, Stable Diffusion is an image-generating tool that's been available for public use since the previous year. While it generously offers numerous features for free, the system once could produce intricate images of real individuals and celebrities, a feature which has since been curtailed.

The platform can generate images based on text prompts of any length, delivering results in a 512x512 pixel format. It's worth noting that the official website can be intermittently inaccessible due to high traffic.

Artbreeder

Artbreeder boasts a comprehensive free toolkit that can create lifelike character images. It allows users to adjust features such as eye color, hair type, and ethnicity.

However, it occasionally struggles when generating images based on specific prompts. Creating two identical images can prove quite tricky, meaning assembling a uniform collection can consume more time than anticipated.

AI NFT Generator

Tailored explicitly for NFT collection generation and the ensuing token sales on various marketplaces, users must connect to the AI NFT Generator using a cryptocurrency wallet, like Metamask, to access its features.

After crafting images, they can be immediately minted via the "Mint" option. However, prior to this, details such as the collection name, its symbol, and a description must be provided. It's essential to be aware that the minting fee fluctuates based on the selected blockchain network, with options encompassing Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Avalanche, and Polygon.
