Building a multinational team of freelance professionals in the midst of an international pandemic, a war on the continent and an economic downturn could be a challenge for any corporation. The problems are similar for any global company operating worldwide. Yet there is a solution.
The sweeping global spread of COVID-19 has driven the use of online technology. In spite of a tough reality, companies were still willing to conduct business and hold regular meetings. The war in Ukraine has changed everything for most organizations and startups. Employees have been forced to relocate to a safer zone or even leave the country in search of temporary shelter away from Russian missiles. In spite of this, businesses must keep pushing forward and maintain their business processes. Modern technologies allow us to keep in touch with each other and gather in a virtual space. Roosh founder Sergey Tokarev told us how his company organized a virtual New Year's party via Party.Space.

Since only 20% of Roosh's staff is based in Kyiv, Sergey Tokarev decided to organize a virtual party for the New Year's holidays. In search of a solution, he has opted for the Party.Space platform. This platform is easy to use and allows you to conduct an event with the effect of people being in the same room through the use of avatars. The platform provides useful features for managing panel discussions and presentations, as well as holding various contests and events. Just like in an offline meeting, you can only hear your colleagues sitting next to you. The platform offers additional settings and options for any event. For example, you can adjust the volume of background music or mute colleagues.

According to Tokarev, adjusting the platform's parameters does not take long. It takes 30-40 minutes at the most. Moreover, the platform provides useful tips and various manuals during the learning and operating process.

Thus, for all colleagues to recognize each other, each participant must create an avatar. After uploading a photo, each attendee has the opportunity to customize their avatar: change their hairstyle and clothes, add accessories, or use video, just like at a corporate online conference.
The format of the avatar is discussed beforehand, and instead of a static image, you could use video from the front camera.

You should also know how to move in the meta-universe. It is necessary to master the mechanics of this virtual world in order to interact with all surrounding objects.
In the metaverse, you can visit different places. You can have a chat with other people or enjoy a cocktail in a bar.

However, it was not the only case when Roosh arranged virtual meetings. That summer, Tokarev and his colleagues celebrated the brand's second birthday. Back then, the team decided to hold a party in the metaverse, but on a different platform called Gather. That event required more preparation, as it involved speakers, special guests, and a virtual auction. Roosh Creative Communications Director Oleksandra Borodina noted that the auction items were selected according to their relevance and the team's interests. The auction raised almost 300 thousand UAH, which have been distributed among various Ukrainian charities.

One's first impression of the metaverse tends toward diversity. It can range from a "wow effect" to complete confusion. Sometimes, there are encounters that have no analogues in the physical world. For example, a weak network connection can cause a "frozen" face on the screen or the interlocutor's sound to go dead, etc. However, it is undeniable that the metaverse offers a completely innovative solution for companies to get as close as possible to their employees, blurring the boundaries between countries and continents.

Get to know the Party.Space Platform

Party.Space is a Ukrainian start-up that utilizes the metaverse platform.

The suggested service is a metaverse for business. This is a 3D virtual world built around a character, idea, or topic, accessible online 24/7 using a regular web browser, with no limits on the number of participants.

Use cases:

  • Virtual parties;
  • Celebration of certain events or specific occasions (Christmas, New Year, Halloween, etc.);
  • Concert attendance;
  • Arrangement of virtual team-building events;
  • Team or card games;
  • Workshops, conferences or meetings with regional branches.

Conclusion

Through the metaverse and virtual technologies, an increasing number of people - or colleagues - within the same company could stay in touch as close to physical contact as possible. By connecting people in a metaverse, you can reduce the distance between them, regardless of where you are located, whether you live in a different city, country, or continent. Such technology provides an opportunity to communicate in the virtual world about the details of a mutual project. You could even tap a colleague on the shoulder, while that person is actually thousands of kilometers away!

Make the fairy tale come true with the help of the metaverse!
