Just when you thought that things were looking tough for X, another twist took place.
On Monday, the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo made an unexpected decision. In a fiery announcement, she said that she’s decided to leave X.

According to her, X has become a "weapon of mass destruction of our democracies" in recent years. She added that “its owner acted deliberately to exacerbate tensions and conflicts, dubbing it a "vast worldwide sewer” and a “political project which wants to do without democracy in favor of powerful private interests.”

She’s the first  high-profile French politician to be willing to quit the platform in such a public way. It comes just a month after the European Commission began scrutinizing the platform, accusing it of failing to make sure that it doesn’t spread disinformation and other misleading content.

It also comes on the same day Musk traveled to Israel where he met with the country’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu. This is despite his recent endorsement of a highly antisemitic post, according to which the Jews and the leftists are trying to eradicate the white population by replacing them with non-white immigrants.

Nonetheless, he was pictured alongside Netanyahu and even had a Twitter space with Netanyahu about Israel’s ongoing war with HAMAS – a move he was criticized for by many pro-Palestinian figures, including the well-known disinformation Jackson Hinkle.

During this visit, he took to Twitter saying that “trite as it may sound, I wish for world peace” – a tweet that is preceded by his asking about his new pet-project Grok’s love poem. The first verse reads:  “In love we find a universe aglow, a cosmic dance of hearts that ebb and flow, it lifts us up, like stars that gently rise, A symphony of souls that harmonize”.
