Mercedes-Benz is planning to solidify its position in the Web3 realm and captivate a fresh audience. The initial stride towards realizing their ambitious goals will come in the form of the "Maschine" NFT collection.
"Maschine" is a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz NXT, Berlin-based conceptual artist Harm van den Dorpel, and Fingerprints DAO, a platform dedicated to advancing digital art and collecting. The NFT collection exhibits a range of perspectives on speed, movement, and perception.

The project comprises 1000 distinct digital items, each featuring intricate and dynamic radial patterns of captivating illusions. A fascinating phenomenon known as the "wagon-wheel effect" emerges when other objects rotate or accelerate, evoking subjective sensations in the viewer. It brings to mind the mesmerizing experience of gazing at a spinning wheel, where the spokes seem to rotate in a different direction and at varying speeds.

To create the "Maschine" NFT collection, Harm van den Dorpel delved into the realm of neural networks for the first time. After training, the network gained the ability to recognize and curate generated artworks that met the artist's criteria.

The creation of Mercedes-Benz NXT's inaugural flagship collection involved active participation from Mercedes-Benz designers, led by Gordon Wagener. Together with Harm van den Dorpel, they collaborated to refine the concept and determine the creative directions.
Engaging with the arts and co-creation is of course nothing new for Mercedes-Benz. It’s how the Mercedes-Benz designers have always worked – through collaboration and creative interactions within the design department
, but also with outside artists,” states the Mercedes-Benz NXT website.
The unique and collectible items of the "Maschine" collection will be exclusively unveiled on the official Fingerprints DAO website on June 7, 2023. Sales will commence at 12:00 (ET). The auction will be open to buyers from the United Kingdom, United States, European Union countries, Brazil, Singapore, and Japan.

Mercedes-Benz NXT serves as the brand under which Mercedes-Benz develops, launches, and manages its official digital assets. The creation of their own NFTs is a strategic initiative aimed at expanding their reach and attracting a new audience.

The Mercedes-Benz NXT ecosystem unifies three tiers:

  • Core Collections. These are interconnected and sequential projects that come together to form a unified narrative. They are developed and managed by the creative studio 0xNXT. The primary collections are released directly under the Mercedes-Benz NXT brand, which is led by a team of experienced collectors and long-standing members of the Web3 community.
  • Satellite Projects. These are standalone collections or events that are developed in partnership with others and have a smaller scale. Collaborations focus on creating unique and one-of-a-kind projects, allowing the authors to showcase their creative potential without the need for alignment with the core collections.
  • Peripheral Projects. These encompass NFTs that are created and distributed independently from Mercedes-Benz, but with the inclusion of the company's trademarks based on official licensing or fair usage.

Mercedes-Benz NXT is a long-term project that does not involve stealth minting. Users will receive advance information about the release of all digital items specifically designed for collecting purposes. There will be no surprises; everything will be transparent and communicated beforehand.
