Colombian artist Jimena Buena Vida captivates with her unique approach to geometric abstraction, skillfully integrating NFT technology to create her exclusive digital collections.
Jimena Buena Vida, an artist originally from Colombia's capital, Bogotá, later relocated to the United States. She completed her higher education in Computer Science at Southern Illinois University, a state-run, non-commercial institution. Jimena initially pursued a technical career, holding positions including Vice President Technology Account Manager at MasterCard.

Eventually, Jimena's passion shifted towards art, as she found it a more fulfilling medium for expressing her creativity. She began experimenting with various artistic techniques, blending traditional and digital methods, creating animated images, and even utilizing her programming skills to modify her artworks.

Known for her use of vibrant and intense colors, Jimena's art is characterized by its vividness and captivating nature. She aims to evoke strong emotions and inspire her audience towards extraordinary achievements through her art. Jimena firmly believes in the powerful influence of art on people.

Her artworks have gained popularity not just in the USA, Europe, and Latin America, but also in China. They’ve been featured in various prestigious exhibitions and events, including on billboards in New York City and at the Latin Grammy Awards. Additionally, Jimena is socially active, contributing to the TIMEPieces initiative's board and serving as an ambassador for the NFT marketplace KnownOrigin.

Jimena Buena Vida first discovered non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in early 2021 and swiftly launched her digital collections across various NFT platforms and blockchains. Although her trading volumes aren't substantial yet (totaling around 20 ETH), her artwork has gained considerable traction.
The creative journey, particularly in the fast-paced world of web3, may not always be easy,
Jimena says, reflecting on the challenges of being an artist.
One of her earliest NFT creations was "In This Journey Reclaiming The Infinite UNO." As per OpenSea data, she generously gifted this token to a random user. Differing from many digital artists, Jimena doesn't price her NFTs excessively high, instead opting for more accessible starting prices.

Her digital collection, "All Our Faces" on the Arbitrum blockchain, stands out with 100 unique, single-edition images, ranging from minimalist monochrome to multicolored geometric designs. To date, most buyers have held onto their purchases without reselling.

Her latest NFT collection, "Unbecoming," released on October 19, 2023, comprises 411 identical images. Launched in partnership with TIMEPieces and Audiogalleries, each piece was offered at a minting price of only 0.019 ETH. Purchasers had the exclusive chance to buy limited edition printed copies with the artist's signature.

Jimena remains optimistic about the ongoing potential of decentralized technology in the art sector. As an artist acclaimed for her work that evokes positive emotions and inspiration, she is expected to continue her foray into NFT collections. It remains to be seen what blockchain and platform she will opt for in her future endeavors.
