Before Musk, Jack Dorsey was the king of Twitter's castle. These days his fund is investing in different projects. Bitcoin-focused ones included.
Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, current CEO of Block, and the founder of the Start Small funding group, has donated a hefty sum to Bitcoin developers from the non-profit organization Brink.

According to Brink’s tweet, the donation stands at $5 million.

β€œHonored to receive a very generous $5,000,000 pledge to our developer funding efforts from @jack and #startsmall. Brink will receive $1,000,000 per year for the next 5 years. Thank you for supporting #bitcoin developers!” the tweet reads.

In response to the announcement, most Twitter users congratulated the fund. A user who goes by the name of rogelio erdman expressed additional excitement, tweeting: What an amazing commitment from @jack and #startsmall! It's wonderful to see such support for #bitcoin developers and the growth of the industry. Exciting times ahead!”

Brink was conceived in 2020. Its goal is to offer fellowship and grant programs to support open-source Bitcoin developers and engineers. Meanwhile, the Start Small fund was launched in an effort to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, which has now ceased to be a public emergency.

Back then, Dorsey reportedly invested $1 billion in the fund. The latter distributed its money among projects like  the Tor Project (Tor Browser developer),  the Signal Technology Foundation (Signal messaging app developer), and the Calyx Institute, a digital privacy education platform.

During his tenure as Twitter CEO, Dorsey introduced the Bitcoin emoji.

Previously, Gagarin News reported that Dorsey unveiled a novel decentralized web platform named Web5, designed to revolutionize how identity and data storage function in the digital world.
