Social media behemoths are rarely friends, with Jack Dorsey sort of making it clear to Mark Zuckerberg while also facing problems of his own.
Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter and founder of Bluesky, seems to want his relations with Mark Zuckerberg to be subject to public scrutiny.

In a tweet made on July 16, Jack, whose bio reads “#bitcoin and chill”, posted a screenshot of Mark’s request to follow him on Threads, Twitter’s chief competitor at the moment. The app has at least 100 million users at the time of this writing.

Jack wrote in the tweet’s caption: “Too soon, b”. B is presumably a bro. Dorsey did not clarify why it’s too soon or why he has Threads handle.

A slew of responses was made to the tweet, with people discussing which app has a brighter future: Twitter or Threads. The opinions on the matter are predictably divided, with some people betting on Twitter due to Musk being “a visionary.”

One of our favorite responses was made by the popular Twitter parody account Greg, who wrote a sarcastic sentence mocking Zuckerberg:

Notably, neither Zuckerberg nor the seemingly omnipresent Elon Musk, who is threatening the former with a lawsuit, have responded to the tweet.

While Dorsey may have garnered attention for entertaining reasons thanks to his tweet, this is not so in the case of Bluesky, another Twitter and Threads’ rival.

The company is under fire for enabling users to register accounts containing racial slurs. Even though the company claimed to have removed the offensive tweet 40 minutes after it had been reported, concerns remain.

Scott Hirleman, the host of the Data Mesh Radio podcast, addressed the team on LinkedIn, saying: “You have an incredibly bad anti-blackness problem on your platform. If you don’t want to run a social media platform, split the company in twain and go focus on the protocol and fund the platform with another team that cares.”

Bluesky is currently in the development phase. It is impossible to register on the platform unless you have an invite code. If you don’t, then you will be asked to join the waitlist.

According to fresh data, Bluesky currently has over 310,000 users and over 1.9 million people on its waitlist.

Currently, the platform’s most well-known users are US Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, model Chrissy Teigen, and Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie.
