Curve Finance is a decentralized exchange (DEX) with a simple Windows 98-style interface that uses an automated market maker (AMM) model. This enables traders to exchange tokens with minimal slippage.
Among all DEXs, Curve currently ranks first in terms of locked funds and third in terms of trading volume (which is arguably a more important metric for an exchange). Furthermore, Curve supports a wide range of blockchains, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Avalanche, Aurora, Fantom, Celo, Kava, Gnosis, and Moonbeam.

One standout feature of Curve Finance is its capability to allow any user to add a new trading pair to the exchange and earn fees on trades utilizing sufficient liquidity.

Founders and Investors

Curve Finance was founded in January 2020 by Michael Egorov, a physicist with experience in software development. Prior to creating this decentralized exchange, Egorov worked at MakerDAO, Uniswap, and NuCypher, a platform for encrypting and exchanging data.

While the exact amount of funding the project has received is unknown, there is information about its investors. These include Coinbase Ventures, Digital Currency Group, Framework Ventures, and RR2Capital.

What is CRV (Curve DAO Token)?

CRV is the utility token of the Curve Finance platform, which serves several important functions.

β€’ Governance: CRV holders can vote on proposals, helping to shape the future of the platform. To obtain veCRV, tokens must be locked for a certain period of time.
β€’ Incentive for liquidity providers: Users who add crypto assets to liquidity pools can receive rewards in CRV tokens.
β€’ Staking: By locking up CRV, users can earn a share of the platform's trading fees.
β€’ Yield boosting: Obtaining veCRV can increase the yield factor in liquidity pools.
