Known as BitBoy Crypto, Ben Armstrong is one of the most prominent and effervescent crypto influencers, regularly appearing as a speaker at blockchain events, podcasts, and shows. His net worth is estimated at 30 million dollars, and his occasionally contentious earning methods have ruffled feathers within the crypto circle.
Despite his controversial persona and questionable moral compass, Ben Armstrong remains a noteworthy figure in the crypto world.

This might be somewhat related to his early investment in Bitcoin, made before it gained mainstream media attention and its value surged significantly. Yet, most of the BTC he bought in 2012 was lost in the infamous Mt. Gox exchange hack.

Before the creation of the BitBoy Crypto YouTube channel, Ben served as the CEO at the Three Dimensional Life mental health center and co-hosted the Beards & Bitcoins podcast.

Armstrong is also the founder of the BitLab Academy educational platform and the HIT Network marketing agency. He manages his own website, BitBoyCrypto.com, and in 2023, he published a book titled "Catching Up to Crypto: Your Guide to Bitcoin and the New Digital Economy."

Is BitBoy Crypto the Top Crypto Blogger?

BitBoy Crypto's YouTube channel, launched in 2018, rapidly gained an audience amidst a bullish market, the buzz around Bitcoin, and a dearth of similar content. The channel's subscription base now surpasses 1 million users.

Armstrong is active on all major social media platforms. He shares short videos where he voices his, often unoriginal, views on the crypto market, provides forecasts and tips for traders, discusses news, and primarily promotes various products.

In 2023, Ben's content isn't particularly sought after among crypto enthusiasts, but he continues to collaborate with advertisers and cryptocurrency projects seeking to elevate their profile. For example, Ben is an official partner of the crypto betting platform Stake and avidly endorses Cardano and XRP. It appears that Armstrong collaborates with anyone willing to pay the right price.

What's the Buzz About Ben Armstrong?

Ben Armstrong, also known as BitBoy Crypto, stands accused of promoting deceptive projects and concealing this fact by deleting the corresponding content. Most of the projects he has previously endorsed have lost liquidity, thereby leaving their investors out of pocket. His critics also assert that Armstrong fails to appropriately label content he's paid for as sponsored. His aggressive revenue-generating strategies, seemingly regardless of ethical considerations, has rubbed many the wrong way.

On top of that, the crypto influencer has been criticized for spreading misleading information, making contradictory statements, and offering inconsistent predictions. Despite the criticism, he seems unfazed and continues to make bold claims, which are often contradicted by his later actions.

A case in point occurred in May 2023. BitBoy Crypto sold all his BEN tokens after tweeting that he would lock them up for six months. A cryptocurrency investigator exposed him by sharing screenshots as evidence on Twitter. Ironically, BEN is Armstrong's personal meme token, which he launched amid the PEPE frenzy.

Yet, Armstrong's supporters didn't seem bothered, and the BEN token is still being traded, with a market capitalization of 33 million dollars.

The Personal Life of the Crypto Blogger

Born on October 27, 1982, in Los Angeles, California, Armstrong attended Toccoa Falls College and Kennesaw State University according to his LinkedIn profile.

While Armstrong remains reserved about his parents, details of his childhood and youth, and generally keeps his personal life under wraps, it's known that he is a married man with three children, owns a collection of luxury cars, and has two pitbulls. He occasionally shares family photos on Instagram, expressing a deep love and appreciation for his loved ones.

According to online rumors, Armstrong battled drug addiction in his youth but has since undergone rehabilitation.

BitBoy Crypto's Cryptocurrency Portfolio

In 2022, Ben Armstrong shared details regarding the cryptocurrencies he held in his investment portfolio. According to him, the distribution was as follows:

  • 106 BTC;
  • 1152 ETH;
  • 1 million ADA;
  • 1 million XRP;
  • ~ 39 000 DOT;
  • ~ 7 000 SOL.

Last year, Ben faced a class-action lawsuit from users who were impacted due to the bankruptcy of the FTX exchange. They believed that BitBoy Crypto was partly responsible for the collapse implications, as he had heavily promoted this project. The lawsuit cost him around 3 million dollars. Due to these and other factors, the weight of crypto assets in his portfolio could have changed in 2023.

For many crypto enthusiasts, Ben Armstrong is somewhat of a meme coin. They often don't take his statements and claims seriously because they know how things usually pan out.
