Australian OTR gas stations are accepting cryptocurrency payments. For the first time ever, drivers can pay with tokens for gasoline, coffee, sandwiches, doughnuts, and other goods.
The OTR network of gas stations has become the first in Australia and the world to announce the possibility of paying for goods with cryptocurrency. The innovative solution resulted from an effective partnership between the crypto platform Crypto.com and the Australian technology brand DataMesh Group.

What’s unique about the offer?  For the first time, digital currency holders can use the Crypto.com app to buy everyday products for tokens without converting to fiat. The partners were motivated to develop the scalable solution by Australian cryptocurrency holders: more than half of them said they wanted to pay with digital currencies in stores in real-time.

The service can be used at 175 OTR gas stations in Victoria, Western Australia, and South Australia. All you need is the Crypto.com app and wallet. The customers should select Crypto.com as their preferred payment method and scan the QR code on the DataMesh terminal through the app.

The next step is to choose cryptocurrency. The buyer specifies the necessary tokens, and the seller immediately receives an equivalent amount in fiat Australian dollars.

Shortly, gas station owner Peregrine Corp. will introduce this payment method at 250 points of sale across the country. The stations’ customers will be able to pay with cryptocurrency for numerous everyday goods, including gasoline, water, sandwiches, coffee, and even the famous Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Also, until September 16, guests at OTR gas stations will receive a 2% cashback of the total amount when paying with cryptocurrency.
